Overview
In January 2017, Sky launched an ambitious challenge to help affect change to one of the biggest man made environmental disasters facing our planet – the dire state of our Oceans. Sky are committed to becoming Ocean positive; protecting and transforming our oceans by becoming single use plastic free by 2020.
Approach
Avvio were asked to support the launch of the next phase of staff engagement and use the one year anniversary in January 2018 to create a moment in time to celebrate Sky’s achievements so far and evoke a sense of pride and passion amongst employees so they become more active in the campaign.
We created a campaign centered around getting people involved; emotionally engaging with employees to become active #OceanHeroes. We encouraged employees to make pledges on how they would change their everyday behaviour to form a personal connection to Sky Ocean Rescue. As part of the campaign, we created a dedicated pledge website and organised a Roadshow that toured around numerous Sky sites across the UK. All activity was supported by messaging that was creative, inspirational and honest.
Results
Over 12,000 pledges were made in one month, with many employees sharing their pledges on social media, changing everyday behaviors to help make a difference.
