Bringing employees back to work safely

Overview

As soon as COVID-19 restrictions began to be lifted, Sky started planning the enormous task of reintegrating its workforce back into their workplace. The ways of moving around the office and using different spaces had changed for the foreseeable future due to the changing social distancing rules. This was going to be a huge adjustment for Sky people and it was important to make it as easy as possible for them to move around sites while keeping them safe.

Approach

Working with the Sky property and workplace resilience teams, we developed a communication framework to support Sky’s return to work strategy in guiding people through this unprecedented time of change, reassuring them that their return to site would be a safe one.

We worked with Sky’s space planners reviewing multiple floors across 38 sites to develop a workplace signage approach advising on format, execution and best practice of signage across the entire UK estate. To ensure efficiencies, we developed a catalogue that could also be shared with all regions and flexible enough to be adapted to support updates to government guidance.

Results

Communications were kept clear and consistent giving Sky people the information they need to make the right decisions in a split second while navigating around sites in order to keep them, and those around them, safe.

Returning employees would share their new ‘workplace experience’ on social channels demonstrating that the return to workplace was not a scary experience thanks to the clarity of messaging they were confronted with.
